skill balance updates (i.e. what we received on august 6th) are not the same as content updates.

i do not trust the original dev update statement anymore, specifically 2 things:

Quote:
We want players to feel connected to what we are developing even though it may be months away from release, so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on.
i don't know about the rest of you guys, but i am waiting without any information and unclear whether or not there even is going to be an update. its clear to see they are not following through with this.

Quote:
Content updates will be done separately from the monthly maintenance and occur every three to four months.
if we don't receive the content update in august, then obviously they are not following through with this either.

I'm really not expecting anything PvE related. Though if I were, I wouldn't mind the following:

1. Elite Areas for the other Gods (Dwayna, Lyssa, Melandru, Kormir): I know DoA seems like the Kormir realm, but I put that on the same level as Sorrow's/Urgoz/Deep/Slavers which are campaign specific. The God Realms to me are beyond the campaigns.
2. Elite Area Staging Grounds: I think each God's area should have a core staging ground that you can go to. If you only have Prophecies, and your friend only has Nightfall (I don't know how you became friends, but go with it), then you could go through the ToA and he could go through the CoS to get to the UW or FoW staging area and you could play together. Maybe even just make a new shrine room at the GToB as a core location so that everyone can get to the God Realms together.
3. New heroes: We still need another Mesmer, Assassin, Ritualist, and Paragon so that (at least in PvE) there are three of each profession. We also need a PvP-exclusive Derv to make up for MOX being PvE only. I say put them in the two campaigns with the least amount of heroes: Prophecies and Factions (help breathe new life into them as well as give characters more options if they just go to NF to get the basic heroes and go back). Based on what I've seen on forums, some popular choices include...
Kurzick Mesmer (Factions)
Margonite Paragon (Prophecies -- Can be found in the Crystal Desert, quest given by a Forgotten)
Grawl Ritualist (Prophecies)
Tengu Assassin (Factions)
Zaishen Priest Dervish (Core, unlocked only through Balth Faction)

4. The ability to trade in skill points for something. I wouldn't mind if it was makeover credits, zkeys, money, reputation points, whatever, something that wouldn't break the economy.
5. Support for other high-end weapons in the Hall of Monuments (Gold Deldrimor Weapons, BMP weapons, etc.)
Despite how much I would never expect any of this, I think everyone of those is a good idea, I especially like the hero ideas that you have there. But it'll never happen.

I recall Linsey saying she wanted to change Heroes Battles for the content update (and maybe do something about a PvP Polymock).

Won't happen, as Linsey has said, and I know I keep re-quoting her: The Live Team doesn't have the needed amount of people in order to make brand new areas. Now, I'm sure if you want more dungeons, they could slap together some of the EN dungeon maps. But to be honest, who wants that?

*Also, technically, all of the Realm of Torment becomes Kormir's realm*

This may be possible, putting a temple town in the Battle Isles. Though for the Underworld, this may be a bit... contradicting (why would a group of people devout solely to Balthazar have a temple for all five/six gods?).

Though I highly disagree with your listings, except for the Paragon, this is possible as well. I'd love to see 4 new heroes. Though I'd say it would make more sense if the Paragon was gained in the Realm of Torment *cough make The Lost a hero cough*. My own list would be:
Tengu Assassin
Margonite Paragon
Dredge or Frogman Ritualist
Forgotten Mesmer

Question though, why a fourth Dervish? (Unless it is PvP only, which would then should be part of this coming update. )

Not sure on BMP in HoM, but I'd love these changes as well.

maybe they ran out of ideas once the work on the purchasable "content" packs was concluded.

i agree with @snaek on the issue of transparency and hope the rework of gvg/ha henchmen and introduction of the test krewe are not the only "updates" in the pvp-lovin' content update.

My personal suspicion is that they are holding out on everything until PAX (3 weeks away now), at which point they will unveil the Krewe signups, plus whatever they've been doing for GW1 since the last update if it's big. Who knows, maybe the Krewe thing will actually turn out to be signups for GW2 beta instead.

Or PAX will only be Anet introducing the Krew thing and will bring nothing about GW2?

Yeah the idea was for PvP only, just to even things out.

Well it's lying to me bud and where I come from if you can't keep your word then you are a LIAR! I bought the game under the influence that I was going to get a new chapter to play EVERY SIX MONTHS that is how they ADVERTISED it. Thus they LIED plain and simple.

I cannot help but feeling that something is coming. And it may potentially be very exciting and / or even very good(!!).

Anet peeps, Izzy, Linsey, Regina (who is busy with PAX organisations), and others are all way to quiet on their respective wiki's when I checked last week, so it reminds me of the quiet before the storm.
Something's brewing, they are severely under-resourced, which have been confirmed a few times by Regina and Linsey being her own iTeam (who said there's no I in team?).
The first things to go in resource-strained circumstances is communication and updating the base.
It's a fact, it is simply not top of mind when deadlines are looming.

I am keeping my eyes open and my ears to the ground for the next few weeks to a month.

You promise your friend to mow their lawn tomorrow, but decided to break your leg after you fell of your bike. Now you can't mow their lawn anymore tomorrow. Now you're lying too?

Anet clearly stated why they abandoned the campaign each 6 months. Anyways, it's not like Anet would care if someone would accuse them of lying.

why do i keep hearing about this "1-man...errr woman...team"? correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't the live team originally have 2 people--lindsey and joe? and then after the profit made from the april content update, they said they were hiring or already hired a new developer for the live team? so what happened?

sry fo the double post. i just read through ncsofts latest earnings report and want to confirm: anet/ncsoft made some profit after releasing the last major content update. on page eight, it says gw generated a revenue of 17,000 mn krw, which are ~13,6 mn us-dollar. in the first quarter, it were 15,000 nm krw (around 12 mn us-dollar).
